Amelia Island
This has been nominated as one of the top islands in the world. This island delivers on all the attractions that excite people: beaches, history, outdoor recreation, shopping, dining, and family-friendly lodging options. Amelia Island is one of the most historic locations in the state.
The cultural influences of eight different flags that have flown here since 1562 penetrated every corner of this island.
The Amelia Island Museum of History, housed in the old county jail, offers a comprehensive historical overview, from the Timucua Native Americans to pirates, European settlers, Civil War soldiers, and Victorian elites.
Dry Tortugas National Park
This national park is one of the most spectacular to see in Florida.
The park is inaccessible by car, so you’ll have to get there by boat from Key West, the last of the Florida Keys. It is a true paradisefor lovers of snorkeling and diving.
The islands of the park are full of reefs with great marine life. And if you don’t like diving, you will surely want to swim in its crystal clear waters.
In addition, on the island of Key Garden, Fort Jefferson stands out, a fortress built in 1845 by the United States government.
Dalí Museum
This museum is dedicated to the work of the artist Salvador Dalí and houses the world’s second-largest collection of Dalí’s work.
Although it is quite far from the main attractions of the state -located in St. Petersburg, FL-, we believe that it is a very interesting place to see in Florida.
The building exhibits architecture inspired by surrealism, an artistic movement in which Dalí’s painting is located, and is the work of Yann Weymouth, of the architectural studio HOK.
Outside, a large glass skylight through which the museum is accessed is striking. The design challenge was precisely to create a building that would symbolize Dalí’s work.
